Pack Announcements

Parent involvement
is essential to a great a Pack.  The ideas, talents, efforts and time of many people come together to enhance the Scouting experience for all our boys.  Please consider sharing your time and talents with us.  It is especially important to have everyone's help at Pack Nights when there are so many Scouts!

Our Spring Clean-Up event at Northwood on April 5th has been canceled due to uncooperative weather. A new date will be posted when we can coordinate with school officials.

Summer Camp is not far away! Aug 4-7 will be full of Pirate fun at Camp Scouthaven! A parent meeting will be held to go over important information about summer camp. There are medical forms and packing guides to make your planning easier and we will share all this information with you. Meeting dates are being planned and will be communicated with those signed up for camp soon.

Popcorn sales are done for this year.  Great work, Scouts!   Many Scouts earned lots of amazing prizes.  All scouts in Pack 616 are asked to sell a minimum of $200 in popcorn.  With classy uniforms and big smiles, that's not hard at all!  In lieu of $200 in sales, scouts can take a $75 opt-out.

Camperships in honor of our previous Cubmaster, Jim Turner, are available. Fill out the application here.

Scouts are encouraged to
recruit friends to our Pack by inviting another boy to a Den or Pack meeting to see what Scouting is all about.  Scouts can earn a Recruitment Patch when they help bring a new boy to the Pack!

Reminder!  If your Den was written up in a newspaper, school flyer or other media source, GNFC wants to know!  Den Leaders can submit pictures and stories to council through their website.

Special opportunities for community and sporting events are open to Scouts in good standing and their immediate families.

Fund Raising Opportunities

Many fund raising opportunities exist to help earn money for the Pack, Dens and even individual boys.  You can gain Scout Credits to offset Pack fees (such as monthly dues and camping costs).  Check back here often to see updates on programs available and important dates.

  • Popcorn - the more popcorn Scouts sell - the more benefit they get!!  By selling enough popcorn, a Scout can earn enough credit to cover his Den dues for the entire year!  Prizes can be earned for filling a sales sheet or being the top seller!  Scouts can work toward prizes at all different sales levels.  Besides helping the Scout and Pack earn much-needed funds, selling popcorn also gives each Scout valuable lessons in socialization, sales and marketing,  perseverance dedication.  It can also help with the hard lesson of rejection and disappointment.  How we handle hearing "no" is an important skill to build.
  • Bon-Ton Community Days Coupon Books  we've done well with this twice a year!  The Scouts and Pack earn every penny for books sold.  It's a popular event in the community and a good way for Scouts to practice their social skills!
  • TOPS Bonus Cards - purchase cards at face value ($5, $10, $15, $20, $50) and use at all area TOPS markets.  Scouts earn 4% in Scout Credit and the pack earns 1% for each $1 sold.  Encourage family and friends to buy Tops cards - no extra cost to them, but a great benefit to your Scout!  This is an ongoing opportunity for Scout credits.  Cards can be purchased at any Pack meeting with advance notice.  Please send an email if you are interested in cards.
  • Pancake Breakfast - Each year, we work with an area restaurant, which opens its doors to our boys early in the morning.  They provide the place, the cooks and the food - we provide the hosts, waiters and bussers.  We earn 70% profit from every ticket sold!  The funds are shared between the Scout and the Pack.  We also do a basket auction at this event.  We're proud to say that this has been a hugely successful event for us each year.
